ANZA – Saturday, Oct. 29, the women of Anza are coming together to entertain and also to heal. Their "Fall into Fashion Show" is a luncheon fundraiser for "Michelle’s Place," a breast cancer resource center located in Temecula. This subject is close to many women’s hearts, some are still in the heat of battle, some have survived, and many know someone special whose life has been touched by this insidious disease called breast cancer.

But who was Michelle? Michelle was a special woman whose positive attitude touched the hearts and lives of many. She was diagnosed with breast cancer at the young age of 23, but she did not let this disease define her. While ill, she would still encourage others. Oncologists would often refer patients to her knowing her positive attitude and caring heart could help soothe and guide them. Sadly, Michelle lost her battle with breast cancer at the age of 26. In her memory, her family started "Michelle’s Place," a place where women could go to find answers and guidance to help them navigate their breast cancer journey.

"Michelle’s Place," founded in 2001, provides important coping strategies, as well as information on up-to-date research and clinical developments. Women and their families could then form a plan based on these facts and then make informed treatment decisions.

At "Michelle’s Place," they are also given an opportunity to speak with an experienced breast cancer mentor, finding a comforting ear. There are several programs available that have been developed, from helping with diagnosis to helping with finances. They also provided for comfort items such as wigs, scarves, hats, bras, and prosthetics. Other programs close to Michelle’s heart were to see women educated about early detection and diet. Many of these programs are free. You can view these programs at length online and get more information about the Resource Center and Michelle at www.michellesplace.org, or visit in person at 27645 Jefferson Ave. Suite 117, Temecula, Mon - Fri: 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Sat and Sun: Closed. Late hours on Wednesday are available by appointment. Call toll free (866) 304-1280 or local (951) 304-1280 and (951) 699-5455.

"Michelle’s Place" is a healing, helpful place; it is worth looking into, worth supporting. Make a difference by attending "Fall into Fashion" on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Thompson Hall at the Anza Baptist Church, 39200 Rolling Hills Rd, Anza.
