Wearing pink shirts paid off for Murrieta firefighters.

The Murrieta Fire Department presented an $1,800 check last week to Michelle's Place Breast Cancer Resource Center. The Murrieta Firefighters Association purchased and wore pink T-shirts in October as part of the International Association of Firefighters "Cares Enough to Wear Pink" campaign.

They also opened it up to community, selling the T-shirts for $15.

The check represented the total funds raised through the Murrieta campaign.

Temecula-based Michelle's Place provides breast health care services, emotional and educational support to women in southwest Riverside County. The center was founded by the parents of Michelle Watson, who lost her battle with breast cancer.
