Spring to bloom pink for Temecula’s Michelle’s Place - swrnn.com - Jan 26 2011Spring to bloom pink for Temecula’s Michelle’s PlaceWhen it comes to serving women fighting cancer, there is no time for dawdling. And so Michelle’s Place — a Temecula-based breast cancer resource center – is gearing up for a busy schedule of activities this spring. According to Executive Director Kim Goodnough, anticipation is building for the upcoming events designed to bring awareness to breast cancer and support local women and families impacted by the disease. “We’re just really excited here. Everyone is excited and planning,” Goodnough said. The upcoming 2nd annual Reality Rally fundraiser, led by “Survivor: Gabon” Gillian Larson and planned for Apr. 13-15, has the potential to raise thousands of dollars for the organization. “The team is working feverishly on all of the details (for the Reality Rally). This year we are keeping it in Old Town, so that (the contestants) are all competing on the same scale,” Goodnough said. Additionally, Goodnough said plans are also currently underway for the annual Spring Fling Mardi Gras celebration planned for Mar. 12 at the Humphreys Estate. [CORRECTION: MAY 12th] Guests will gather for a good cause, decked out in their finest black and pink attire. Goodnough said that tickets are now available on the website. Among the smaller, more intimate events is an opportunity for survivors and residents to learn and enjoy the benefits of healthy eating at the Temecula Farmers Market and fruit stand. Tina Barnes, owner of Crows Pass Farm will be giving away some of Crows Pass Farm’s very own fresh food, gift certificates, and delicious recipes from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 21 at Michelle’s Place, located at 27645 Jefferson Ave. #117 in Temecula. Michelle’s Place regularly hosts seminars, classes and workshops that are free for cancer survivors. To learn more, call 951-699-5455 or visit www.michellesplace.org. |
